Cake Smash Questions:

Are family photos included?
The standard cake smash package will include 1-2 shots with the parents or guardians. If you’d like to include siblings or more family shots, the Cake Smash Family Session includes more variety and your immediate family is welcome to join in on the fun! Have a change of clothes ready because you will get cakey!

How far in advance should we book and take the photos?
Booking 2 months out is ideal. Usually we shoot between 10.5-11.5 months. Photo turnaround is two weeks but I have never missed a birthday! You will have photos to share before your baby’s birthday, even if it’s a sneak peek.

Do you provide the cake?
Because of allergy and dietary restrictions, I find it easier for everyone if the parents provide the cake.

What type of cake should I buy?
Often times if you tell the bakery it’s a smash cake, they know the drill. I recommend white or vanilla sponge cake because it crumbles and is easier for little hands to smash. Soft, or whipped fluffy icing like buttercream or whipped cream is easier to smash than fondant or a cake with a lot of decoration. Simple is better. I would generally stay away from red icing as it stains their face and gives off some vampire vibes- but if you want color on the cake, add it to the bottom and keep the top white! Smaller is better. The cake should be between 4-8 inches. Large cakes cover their body and they don’t look as messy when they’re being smashed.

What should we wear?
I have links and inspiration material I will send to you.

What decorations and props are included?
I provide a backdrop of your choice, balloons and a “one” cake topper in gold or silver. When we start the planning session we will discuss backdrop colors and decorations. I provide balloon garland or something of equal value as decoration and setup usually takes around 30 minutes. Parents provide the outfits, cake or any speciality/custom props.

Where is the studio?
The studio is in Larchmont.
